Bowling Green Christian Academy

Informing the mind, shaping the heart, serving the world for Jesus Christ

Our History and Future

In early 1993, a small group of individuals with a passion for Christian education formed a committee to prayerfully consider the feasibility of establishing a regional, independent Christian school. While there were other Christian schools in the Bowling Green area, this would be the first non-denominational school in the region. The concept began to take shape with the incorporation of the Academy as a non-profit Kentucky corporation. The steering committee went on to appoint the first Board of Trustees, which was seated in January of 1994.

In 1994, the charter Board leased classroom and office space from Hillvue Heights Church and hired a Headmaster using $10,000.00 in seed money. The Academy officially opened its doors that fall serving forty-seven students from kindergarten through sixth grade.

As enrollment increased, so did the school’s need for a larger facility. In 1996, the current location close to Campbell Lane became available, and construction on our 21,000 square foot building began. This move was made possible through the Godly stewardship of an Academy family, and the Academy’s first capital fund drive. The completion of the second floor in 2000 provided much needed classroom space. In August 2001, the Academy made arrangements to lease an adjacent building to accommodate the preschool and kindergarten.

In 2012, BGCA opened the first Transitional Kindergarten in Bowling Green and added the Early Childhood Center (ECC).

In August 2014, to accommodate BGCA’s growing pains, our high school was moved into leased space at Holy Trinity Lutheran School. In late 2014, BGCA entered into a lease agreement and ministry partnership with Living Hope Baptist Church. This agreement allowed 5th grade through Middle School to relocate in January 2015. By moving these students, BGCA opened up more Early Education Classrooms on Destiny Lane.

During the summer of 2015, BGCA consolidated to two campuses. Our Transitional Kindergarten through High School is housed at Living Hope Baptist Church (Bowling Green Christian Academy Westen Campus). All of our Early Education and Preschool classrooms are at Bowling Green Christian Academy Destiny Lane Campus.

BGCA now meets the needs of children ages six weeks-old through 12th grade.  At BGCA there is a place for all! BGCA is a place of growth where we live our motto:

“Informing the mind, Shaping the Heart, Serving the World for Jesus Christ.”
